Spring Updates - March 26, 2013

Greetings and thanks visiting my page!

It's been a busy spring traveling about doing clinics and performances in Missouri, Colorado, and Nevada. It was a pleasure to adjudicate and present a clinic at the 2013 Mid Missouri Percussion Arts Trophy competition hosted by Carol Helble. In addition to the great private teachers and students I was able to spend a little time with percussionist and composer, Nathan Daughtrey, and finally meet composer Raymond Helble. It was also wonderful to hear talented high school and collegiate percussionists from throughout the country play. The bar keeps raising!

In addition to some great gigs in Las Vegas and Durango, CO, I was delighted to visit my alma mater, The University of Central Missouri, to give a clinic and perform the Bartok Sonata for Two Pianos and Percussion with Mike Sekelsky, Mia Hynes, and Tian Tian. It was great to be on the Hart Recital Stage once again and I look forward to future collaborations with these great musicians.

The rest of the spring has a scattering of performances in Las Vegas, as well as a performance of David Lang's The So-Called Laws of Nature with AJ Merlino, Kyle Bissantz, and Ryan Harrison. Visit my Calendar to the right for more information.

At Adams State University, senior Josh Wohlrabe will be performing his senior recital, including works by Schwantner, Ewazen, Hollinden, Debussy, and Abe. Junior Ben Paden will be performing his junior recital and playing works by Cangelosi, McDonald, and more. Visit the Adams State University Music Department page here for more information.

Also, the summer will be busy with performances, camps, and workshops. Please spread the word about the Adams State/Yamaha Sounds of Summer Percussion Camp from June 23-25.  I will be announcing the camp clinicians very shortly!

Finally, as we roll into spring, I hope everyone can take a moment to reflect and be grateful for what it is you have, your art, and most importantly, be grateful for your friends and family. Enjoy the longer days fresh air, and warmer weather.

Best wishes for a great spring!
